Can phone measurement replace dedicated instruments? +

Phone mics and A/D converters vary unit to unit, so absolute values won’t match dedicated measurement gear. Sonir can correct for this by loading calibration files, and above all it excels at relative comparison — measuring and comparing on the same device under the same conditions.

Can I use a calibrated mic like UMIK? +

It supports loading calibration files (.txt). Both loading and external USB mic input (UMIK, etc.) are free.

How much does it cost? +

Sonir is completely free ($0). No in-app purchases, no subscription, no ads. That includes core measurement, tonal profiling, file inspection, comparison (measurement overlay), unlimited storage, per-band analysis, and export.

Does it work on iPad? +

It supports iPhone / iPad, with every feature free on both. The Android version is still in preparation.

Is my data stored in the cloud? +

No. Sonir has no server; recordings and measurement data are stored only on your device. When you want to share, you export via a generated image and the OS share sheet.

It warns “recording level too high” even on quiet sounds. +

On some Android devices, automatic gain control (AGC) kicks in and lifts the floor during quiet passages. Sonir disables AGC where possible, but behavior varies by device. Contact support for details.

Recordings distort / RT60 comes out wrong. +

Clipping during recording is usually the main cause. Lower the level so the recording peak sits around -6 to -12 dBFS, and earn SNR through sweep length instead.

Where can I get it? +

Sonir is available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. The Android version is still in preparation.
